The
more I think about it the more I’m convinced about the starting point being,
what are you going to do less of.
Having said that, someone pointed out to me that people feel they have
to give up something before they do something, so it’s twice the effort.
I
guess, that people will automatically make room if they have something they
want to do. But my own belief is that
people need to see first what they are doing in their lives, and right down
what they think they’re doing too much of, and then be aware of what they have
to change.
I
am amazed at how some people do so much in their lives and others do so little,
or at least have nothing to show for it.
Content. Creation of content. Watching TV does not create content, nothing
to show for it. Mind you, neither is
playing with your kids, but at least you know it’s a good thing, and nothing to
feel guilty about.

I start some work
tomorrow, which has taken a year to come to fruition.
A whole year.
I knew it would
happen in the end, just a matter of when.
So hang in there,
know what you want, and either go get it or it will come to you.

Have I ever said
what my goals are?
I can’t remember.
Yes I have in January.
Well I’m well on
the way to achieving the first part by the end of 2003!
The second part
for end 2006 is just a little more challenging!!!!
But so far so
good.
It’s amazing how if
you dream and turn your dreams into goals and then write them down, they seem
to come true.

I’m supposed to write about conditions for creativity and I’ve gone blank.
So conditions for lack of creativity.
Stress, tiredness, lack of time, no breaks, overwork, sitting in a hotel
room having eaten a Big Whopper and too many chocolates.

Creativity is a
weird thing.
I’m sitting in
Canberra Airport with half an hour before the flight, and suddenly I get out a
pen and blank piece of paper, and I just couldn’t stop planning, drawing,
creating, thinking, and ideas.
It was like
several months worth of creativity blurted out in 30 minutes.
I guess I have to
let myself have some time away from the routine.
Being stuck in
Canberra airport, there’s not much else to do!
I can remember
some very clear landmark creative watersheds.
Once with Andrew
for a day in 1994, once with Clare in 1998, once while driving along in 1999,
and yesterday at Canberra Airport in 2002.
There have been
other times, but those come straight to mind.
I wonder if I can
create more of those circumstances for more creative watersheds.
Like blinding
flashes of inspiration.
Is there a
catalyst needed?
Is it a
situation?
I’m going to have
a think about it and get back to you.
