Self Development
And sometimes it’s not your
skills and planning on the outside, but what is going on within you.
Your motivation, your fears,
your doubts, your procrastination.
I’ve been there done that,
still go through it sometimes, and I have a few tools to help you out.
You can read as many books as
you like, attend as many Guru seminars as you like, be trained, attend
workshops, but unless you change and do something different on Monday morning,
then nothing will change.
A definition of insanity is
“Continuing to do the same thing time and
time again, and expect a different result.”
“For things to change, I have to change.”
“If it has to be, then it’s up to me.”
That’s enough quotes.
If you have iron willed
discipline then there are plenty of good books/tapes out there to follow
including,
Feel The Fear and Do It Anyway
7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and the follow up First Things First
However, most of us at best
have good intention and then drift back to exactly how we usually are, leaving
the 5%ers as they are known to get up on stage and tell us how this and that
technique has changed their lives, whilst us 95% sink deeper and deeper into
our chair!
So what’s the answer?
Firstly, you already have the
answer. Use more of what has made you
have your successes in the past.
That’s your nature, and that’s
what works for you.
Secondly, if you’re not so
goal and action orientated, and not good at sticking with it, then you can be
more organic in your goal setting.
Dream. What is it you’d like?
There are 24
hours in the day. What are you going to
do less of to change the way things are.
Simply really. If you don’t do Less of Something (or More of
Something Else) then nothing is going to change.
And having less sleep is not
the answer! Most people need more
sleep. If you want things to change then
somehow you have to do less of some things and more of others.
But here’s the beauty of my
idea. This things are not absolute. You don’t have to give up TV, but know that
when you are watching TV you’re in the “Less” zone. You want to be in the “More” zone. And make sure you have lots of fun things in
the “More” zone.
Want to know more? In incorporate Less=More into some of my
workshops.
In terms of specifically
looking at what holds us back in Selling, I’m accredited to test and run the SPQ Gold
Sales Call Reluctance psychometric and Fear
Free Prospecting Workshop, developed by Behavioural Sciences
Research Press - The Call Reluctance® Company
I’ve looked at lots of things
over the years, and really believe that Gary Craig’s Emotional Freedom Technique
is the best things I’ve seen. There are
specific searches you can do on his website for the use of EFT in sales situations.
I’ve also developed some
specific “set-up” statements for use with EFT and Selling.
There’s also a good intro to
EFT by means of a leading diet book, The No-Grain Diet, which has an introduction to EFT.
