Activity:
Selling
is largely about activity, infused with a few skills you probably already have.
I call it Frog Kissing. It doesn’t matter how good your
Selling or Planning or Qualifying skills are , if you’re not making the
contacts through networking or calling or marketing, then you are less likely
to be successful. In fact, the secret of success is the number of contacts you
make on a regular basis.
The
more frogs you kiss, the more likely you are to be successful.
At
least half of good selling is activity, and is the foundation of good selling.
And
you know what? You already have all
these skills (usually buried deep) within you.
You all know what good selling is, because you are all customers and
clients. You know how to be treated
well, and what “Good” selling is. Some
of you hate salespeople, or the thought of being “sold to”. Good!
Use the skills from within that have worked in the past that have
enabled you to meet your girlfriend/boyfriend, wife/husband, what ever got you
your current job, your interview skills.
In some ways we all sell, but don’t think of it as selling, just use
what has worked for you in the past, and how you’d like to be treated. Simple really. I of course can tell you and train you on the
skills you may also want to acquire. See Below!
First you have to find the
Frogs to Kiss. That means you have to be
reminded about getting off your bottom and go and talk to a few people.
It’s best to network, call on
warm/previous contacts, and use cold calling as the option of last resort.
So Networking Skills is a big
and growing part of my workshops.
